About Us
We are Gamble Alert and we are here to help!
We are dedicated to the prevention of, and the provision of treatment services for gambling harm in Nigeria. It is an independent charity guided by a Board of trustees working in the health, gaming, legal, and academic sectors. Gamble Alert is formed to advocate for responsible gambling, prevent underage gambling, provide bettors with a mental aid to help cut out impulsive bets, and provide clinical and rehabilitation assistance for gambling addicts.
Our Work in Action
Why Campaign for Responsible Gambling?
Young adults, and low-income and non-married people are almost universally found to be at elevated risk. This is according to the World Health Organization. Frequent participation in gambling activities that are continuous in nature and involve an element of actual or perceived skill is particularly strongly linked to problem gambling.
Excessive gambling often causes a multitude of emotional symptoms, including anxiety, depression, and even suicidal thoughts and tendencies. In extreme situations, these thoughts may lead a gambler to actually make an attempt to end their life.
At Gamble Alert, we understand that addressing addiction requires a multi-faceted approach. That is why we have committed ourselves not only to healing the wounds inflicted by addiction but also to preventing future wounds from occurring. Our dedication to research and prevention is an integral part of our overarching vision for a society free from the chains of gambling addiction.
